State Programs and Incentives

We're constantly asked by homeowners about incentive programs for home energy efficiency improvements.

Several billions of dollars have been set aside for energy efficiency in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or ARRA. (You can see the full breakdown on the Department of Energy's website.) At any given moment, though, the number of energy efficiency programs and incentives at the state, utility, and local levels is in flux. We suggest you pay a visit to the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for the most up-to-date information available on programs in your area.

For federal incentives for energy efficiency, the authoritative source is Energy Star's Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency page. The Alliance to Save Energy (ASE) is another good source of information about federal tax credits, as is EnergyTaxIncentives.Org
