Health & Indoor Air Quality

healthDid you know that according to the EPA, indoor air is among the top 5 environmental threats to public health? That's right, the air that we breathe every day in our homes is often significantly more dangerous than the smog-filled our outside. That's because our homes are filled with building materials, combustion appliances, and, all too often, moisture that leads to issues like mold and mildew.

At STP Home Performance Solutions, we take a holistic approach to building performance to ensure that your home is as healthy as it is energy efficient. While we often focus our building energy improvement efforts on sealing up air leaks and improving insulation, we also take great care to eradicate any moisture issues at the source, and to identify any other potential indoor air quality problems such as combustion safety issues, radon, and carbon monoxide.

In short, we believe that homes should be healthy and safe, and we take all the necessary steps to ensure that the homes we work on are just that. We analyze homes for radon gas and carbon monoxide gas, ensure that all combustion equipment is working properly and safely, and in some cases recommend a mechanical ventilation system such as a heat recovery or energy recovery ventilator (HRV & ERV, respectively), which transfers the heat from air that's entering and exiting the home to the air that's going in the other direction, to ensure that your home's energy consumption is efficient and safe, while maximizing healthy ventilation and ensuring a healthy indoor environment.
